About Us

Established in 2021, Obi Studios is an independent, family-run tattoo studio and record shop based in the heart of Sedgefield, County Durham.

Like many families, our lives changed a lot during COVID. We welcomed a new baby, moved to a new town, and were given the opportunity to start a business just a stone’s throw from our new home.

Obi Studios began as a tattoo studio when Abigail opened the shop with the aim of creating a better work-life balance while raising our young family in the village we now call home.

The record shop came later, after Abigail suggested that Mark turn his lifelong love of collecting records into a small business. What was only ever meant to be a single crate of vinyl in the tattoo studio waiting room slowly grew… and grew.

Today, that one crate has become a shop packed with thousands of records. In fact, we often joke that Obi Studios has gradually become a record shop that just happens to do tattoos in the back!

You’ll find new, used and collectable records across every genre, with a particular focus on hip hop, soul and affordable classics, alongside our popular Any three records priced at £5 for £12 offer.
